Live your happiest life

People often ask why I smile so much and ‘how are you so positive’ and I never really have an answer, I just do, I just am.

When I think about it, I haven’t always been like this. It’s taken a few years of ups and downs to find balance in happiness with my dream life. So I thought I’d give you a list to bring a little more happiness into your life while you live your best and happiest life.

  1. Make the decision to stop talking negatively.
Don’t worry about what others are doing or saying. Focus on your self and make a promise to yourself to see the glass half full in every single moment. Remember there is always a water jug too, to fill up your glass. This includes how you talk to your self. If you drop something, don’t be quick to judge your self and say ‘oh you dick head you dropped the milk’. A simple ‘whoops’ and clean it up is enough. When you stop the negative talk you’ll start to notice how much lighter you feel and smiles will come easier and more frequently.

  2. Be happy right now.
We have all gone to the place of saying this “I’ll be happy when…”.
I’ll be happy when I reach my goal weight,
I’ll be happy when I have my dream job,
I’ll be happy when I meet Mr Right,
    I’ll be happy when I have/do this/that.
But, I’m going to be brutally honest here. You could die tomorrow so why not be happy now. You can’t really control the future, so control the now by putting a big fat smile of your face. Love, enjoy and truly embrace the entirety of the process.

We can always find joy in the small things. Even if your world is upside down right now – find something that makes you happy. The weather, an ocean swim, listening to your favourite music. Anything to bring a smile to your face.

This is your life – you decide whether to be happy or not.

  3. Write your goals down.
Every.  Single. One. The big ones and the small ones.
Not in your phone. Get a pen and paper, we’re doing this the old-fashioned way. When you write your goals down you are taking the first step to achieving the goal. Don’t be afraid to write down those big goals. Don’t be afraid of failure or what others will think. This is for you, put it out to the universe. Now, how does it feel when you’ve written it down? Good hey. Now write as much detail about each goal, elaborate and add steps you can take.
When we are working towards our own goals, this brings a natural state of happiness. Yes some of our goals are hard to achieve (especially if imposter syndrome kicks in) but our goals are worth all the effort we can give them. Often we get stuck on the rat race working to achieve someone else goals. Even if you have the plan to spend just 5 minutes on your goals, this will bring you more happiness then not doing anything.

  4. Visualisation.
Imagine that you are already living your best life. Do, say, act as though you are living your dream life. Because you are. You can achieve anything that you can think up. It’s just a matter of taking the steps towards it.
Imagine how you would feel if you put yourself into these vivid images. Think about it as much as you can because thoughts turn into things. Don’t focus on what you don’t have because that’ll feed it energy.
Release your desires to the universe and it’ll be taken care of.
Visualise and say what you ‘have’ not what you don’t have.

Say you are running late for work and all you’re thinking is, “I’m late, I’m late, I’m late” and then what happens is you get every single red light on the way into the city and yep you guessed it -you’re late for work.
BUT if you end up saying “I’ll get there just in the nic of time”. You will, trust me I have done this that many times when I lived in the city and it’d work every time. As long as the negatives never came in and I trusted the universe I’d be looked after.

When we spend time really visualising what we want it brings us into happiness. When we start achieving the things we want, we realise we can have anything and then we start achieving more – meaning more happiness. Start acting as though you have everything already and the universe will be able to provide it to you.

  5. Do things differently.
You can do all the previous 4 steps but without changing things up, nothing will happen and you’ll go around in a circle again and again.
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting something different” – Albert Einstein
If you want to be a morning person, you have to create the habit to wake earlier.
If you want to run 5kms, you’ll have to start by walking it.
If you want to lose weight, you’ll have to tidy up your diet and get some regular activity.
If you want to write a book, you best start.
Nothing will be handed to you. You need to work damn hard for the things you want. If it was easy, don’t you think everyone would be doing it?
So do something every single day that gets you closer to your goals. Start with the small things as they will help chip away at the bigger things.
Set your alarm only 5 minutes earlier.
    Walk 1km.
Leave 4 chips on your plate after lunch.
Do a brainstorm for your book.
A small step in the right direction is better than no step at all. Baby steps.

I should probably add in a step 6 but it isn’t really a step, but just know that everything in our lives happen in polarity, with everything good there is bad.
Now don’t take this the wrong way or be quick to judge and say that bad things happen all the time. If you think about it this way it’ll make sense. It’s like yin and yang. Within yin there is yang and within yang there is yin. Within positives there are negatives and within negatives are positives.
If you want to loose weight, the positive is losing the 2kg and feeling amazing and the negative is that it’s hard work to get there because you have to stop eating 3 donuts every day.
If you want to write a book, the positive is when it’s published you’ll achieved your goal and the negative is all the hours you decided to stay in writing rather than out partying.
If you want to run 5kms, the positive is finishing the 5km without stopping and the negative is all those runs you did where your legs felt heavy and you just couldn’t run it.

See where I am going with this. The world happens in polarity. It’s not necessarily bad, it’s just the perceived negative side to the positive reward. It is up to you to understand this and know that not every day is going to be rainbows and butterflies but if you can take all these steps on board – you’ll be living a happier and more peaceful life.

If you have any other motos that you live by, please share. The more the better, we all relate to tips differently in different stages of our lives. I’d love to know what drives you to live your best and happiest life or which one of these steps best resonates with you the most?
